Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Brown (ranked 3976 p4p, 6719 weight class) and Dimitri Sherkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brown might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Some Bodies Gonna Get It. Dimitri Sherkov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 53 - 5, fighting out of Hilo, John Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dimitri Sherkov!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown scores with a leg kick.
Brown lands a nice hook to Sherkov's body. Sherkov takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Sherkov walks into a stiff left hand from Brown.
A jab lands there for Brown.
Brown lands a glancing blow to the side of Sherkov's head.
Brown swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Sherkov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Sherkov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Brown is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Brown has escaped and now he's on top!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sherkov is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Brown feints and then cracks Sherkov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sherkov down.
Brown bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sherkov's head backwards.
Brown throws a wild body kick that Sherkov sees coming a mile off.
Sherkov with the counter takedown but Brown avoids it easily.
Sherkov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Sherkov takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown leaves Sherkov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Brown fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Sherkov has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sherkov there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Sherkov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brown won't be happy with that.

Sherkov goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Brown rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Sherkov's guard! Nice work there by Brown!
Our spies down at at Tran MMA Gym inform us that Sherkov has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

John Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sherkov is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Brown.
Brown will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sherkov tries to escape but Brown has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Brown lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Sherkov takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Brown pushes Sherkov away with a front kick.
Brown lands a head shot.
Brown is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sherkov can do to turn this around?
Sherkov takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Brown misses with a low kick.

Brown walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sherkov checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Brown lands the left hand.
Brown lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sherkov at a distance.

and Sherkov counters with a takedown into side control.
Sherkov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sherkov swings around for an armbar but Brown sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sherkov's guard.
Sherkov wants to hit a sweep here but Brown passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sherkov there!

Brown manages to capitalize on a mistake by Sherkov to take his back!
