Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Stackhouse (ranked 326 p4p, 346 weight class) and Dick Pawlik (ranked 42 p4p, 47 weight class). Stackhouse 's entrance music is True Blood. A fine choice. Pawlik has chosen John Butler - Ocean as his entrance music. Dick Pawlik has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Stackhouse !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Pawlik!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Pawlik with that takedown attempt.
Pawlik dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Pawlik digs a good body shot into Stackhouse 's ribs.
Pawlik uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Pawlik doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Stackhouse connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A jab from Stackhouse misses.
Stackhouse tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pawlik was well out of range. Poor timing from Stackhouse .
Stackhouse fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Stackhouse throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Stackhouse connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
A left lands for Stackhouse .
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stackhouse throws a leg kick but Pawlik checks it.
Pawlik misses with a hook.
Stackhouse stuffs the takedown.
Jason Stackhouse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dick Pawlik.

Pawlik throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stackhouse 's waist but Stackhouse gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pawlik off to one side.

Stackhouse throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Stackhouse throws out a loose jab but Pawlik uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stackhouse on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Pawlik shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stackhouse sprawls well. Stackhouse wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pawlik gets slowly back to his feet.
Pawlik throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stackhouse sees it coming and avoids it easily.
It looked like Stackhouse wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Pawlik moves away from the strike by Stackhouse .
Stackhouse misses with a hook. Pawlik ducked under it nicely.
Pawlik just misses with a punch to the body.
Pawlik uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stackhouse .
Pawlik shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Stackhouse throws out a loose jab but Pawlik uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pawlik throws an overhand right that lands on Stackhouse 's shoulder, as Stackhouse tries to avoid the shot.
Pawlik on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice defenses there by Pawlik.
Pawlik looks to land a right hand but Stackhouse moved out of range.
Decent striking displayed by Stackhouse there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pawlik has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stackhouse finds it's way round the side to connect with Pawlik's head.
Stackhouse pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pawlik moves out of range as Stackhouse strikes.
Stackhouse throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pawlik sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pawlik.

Pawlik goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Stackhouse rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pawlik's guard! Nice work there by Stackhouse !

Pawlik had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stackhouse defends it easily.
Stackhouse is looking to stand up but Pawlik won't let him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pawlik lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pawlik working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Pawlik trying to control but Stackhouse is working from the bottom.

Stackhouse has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Pawlik is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Stackhouse breaks the clinch.
Stackhouse throws a leg kick which misses Pawlik's front leg but catches the back leg as Pawlik tries to avoid it.
Pawlik looks to score with a jab to the body but Stackhouse is just out of range.
Stackhouse appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Stackhouse misses with a lunging right hand

and Pawlik counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pawlik.
Pawlik missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Stackhouse is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pawlik is controlling him.
Pawlik postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pawlik drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stackhouse dives on top into guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pawlik has an active guard here but Stackhouse has managed to pass into half guard.
Pawlik tries to roll over but Stackhouse keeps him under control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Stackhouse dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Stackhouse swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pawlik.

Stackhouse misses with a left hand

and Pawlik counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Stackhouse !
Pawlik throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Pawlik has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Stackhouse is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Pawlik yanks on the arm and Stackhouse is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Pawlik.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dick Pawlik!
After the fight, Dick Pawlik was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Jason Stackhouse stepped up to the mic, saying 'It's like if a tree falls in the woods, it's still a tree, ain't it?'.
