PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damien Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Boii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven Boii is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boii bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Morgan tries to improve position but can't.
Morgan manages to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Boii is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Morgan is pulling down on Boii's head to control his posture.

Morgan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boii can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Morgan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Boii wants to control from the top but Morgan keeps moving.

Boii drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boii jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Boiiis looking to pass into half guard but Morgan pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Morgan is in guard.

Morgan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Morgan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Morgan tries to free his leg and advance position but Boii is retaining full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Morgan distracts Boii with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Morgan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Boii is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Morgan, into his guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Morgan wants to sweep but no luck.
Boii wants to pass the guard but Morgan is keeping the position.
Morgan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Boii is controlling him.
Morgan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boii is looking to stand up but Morgan won't let him.

Morgan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Boii looks gassed!
Boii can't escape the position.
Boii wants to hold on but Morgan pushes him away.
Morgan landing punches.
Morgan wants to control the pace but Boii is squirming around nicely.

Morgan is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Boii can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Morgan is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

and Boii decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Morgan's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Damien Morgan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Morgan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Morgan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Boii shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Morgan is trying to escape the mount.
Morgan tries to lock up and control but Boii gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boii trying to control but Morgan is having none of it.
Boii might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Morgan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Morgan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Boii is breathing heavily.
Morgan tries to roll over but Boii keeps him under control.

Morgan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Boii is working away from the top position though.

Boii is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Morgan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Morgan gets back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Morgan looking for a triangle here. Boii is fighting it but it looks tight! Morgan pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Boii is tapping out - this one is all over!
