The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gaethje shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Takeuchi's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaethje looking to sit in guard and control but Takeuchi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Takeuchi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gaethje's guard.
Gaethje is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaethje is refusing to be controlled, as Takeuchi sits in half guard.
Gaethje knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Takeuchi on the ground.
Gaethje wants to get back to full guard but Takeuchi has passed into side control.
Gaethje on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gaethje tries to get out of the position.

Takeuchi is working to tighten his grip on Gaethje's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Gaethje has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Takeuchi is really squeezing tight and eventually Gaethje passes out! Takeuchi breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
