Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Burns (ranked 2184 p4p, 2820 weight class) and Danny Brooks (ranked 268 p4p, 333 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Burns is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brooks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Burns.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Burns darts in and clinches Brooks up against the cage.

Burns manages to break the clinch.
Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burns swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Burns throws a sloppy head kick
and Brooks counters with a three punch combo that has Burns backing up. Burns nods at Brooks to acknowledge the strikes.
Brooks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Burns is fending him off so far but Brooks persists. Nope, Burns circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brooks wants to get back to his feet but Burns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A punch lands to the side of Brooks 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Brooks dives in and grabs Burns's left leg, looking for a takedown. Burns pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.

Burns shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brooks manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Brooks is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Burns presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
