Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lafayette Blackstone (ranked 4728 p4p, 4790 weight class) and Carpet Muncher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muncher throws a predictable looking body shot

and Blackstone holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Blackstone pulls guard successfully.
Muncher postures up.
Muncher prevents Blackstone from getting back to his feet.
Muncher missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Blackstone tries to strike from the bottom.

Blackstone looking for a guillotine here but Muncher defends easily.
Muncher prevents Blackstone from getting back to his feet.
Muncher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blackstone is on top in guard.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Blackstone cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Blackstone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Blackstone looking to finish Muncher with some ground and pound. This is bad for Muncher!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Muncher has given up his back here.
Blackstone is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Blackstone gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Blackstone gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Blackstone apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Muncher is looking to clinch.
Muncher fails with an attempt to clinch.
Muncher fails to land the takedown.

Muncher tries to land a leg kick but Blackstone saw it coming and moves away.

Blackstone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Muncher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Muncher wants it to stay on the feet.
Blackstone tries to clinch up.
Blackstone tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Muncher paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Muncher fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lafayette Blackstone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carpet Muncher.
A head kick misses from Muncher.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Muncher enables Blackstone to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Muncher manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Blackstone wants to take a breather but Muncher is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Muncher is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Blackstone pulls his head out easily.
It looks like Blackstone is going to stand back up.
Blackstone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blackstone throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Blackstone working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Muncher tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Blackstone was well out of range. Poor timing from Muncher.
Muncher shoots for a takedown but Blackstone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Lafayette Blackstone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blackstone is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Muncher has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Muncher shoots in for a takedown but Blackstone shows good takedown defense.
Blackstone goes for a double leg but Muncher avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Muncher continues to drive forward.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Blackstone, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
