Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Diego (ranked 4618 p4p, 4560 weight class) and Nig Ger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Diego !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nig Ger!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diego scores with a jab.
Ger has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Nig Ger has been cut.
Juan Diego seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ger fails with the takedown.

Diego drives through and clinches with Ger against the cage.

Diego manages to break the clinch.
Diego misses with a two punch combination.
Ger is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Ger tries for a takedown but Diego sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Diego scores with a jab to the head.

Ger shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Diego is trying to defend but Ger finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Diego has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ger is on him like a limpet, forcing Diego back against the cage.

Ger breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Diego 's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ger under the eye.
Ger displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Diego throws out the jab.
Diego clobbers Ger with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Diego throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Diego gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ger cracks Diego with a solid left hand.
Diego is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ger lands a couple of elbows.
Ger stops Diego from standing up.
Ger landing with the ground and pound.
Ger pushes down on Diego 's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ger looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diego with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Diego has one foot on Ger's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Ger shoots for a double leg takedown but Diego sprawls well. He's pushed Ger's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Juan Diego has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nig Ger.

Ger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diego 's guard.
Diego is breathing heavily.
Diego wants to stand up but Ger is controlling him.

Ger wants to control from the top but Diego keeps moving.

Ger throws an elbow that misses. Diego uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ger's guard. Nice move by Diego !

Ger is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Diego is controlling him.

Ger has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Diego off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Diego stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diego wants it to stay on the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diego closes the distance and clinches.
Diego swings wildly with an uppercut but Ger uses good head movement to avoid it.

Ger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ger fails with a takedown attempt.
Ger fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diego avoids it really well and circles away.
Diego seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Nig Ger's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Ger gets a takedown into half guard.
Ger tries to pass the half guard into mount. Diego knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Diego is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ger can do to turn this around?
Ger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ger tries to pass the half guard into mount. Diego knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Diego pushes Ger off and gets back to his feet.
Ger swats away the attempt to clinch by Diego .

Ger shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Diego napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Diego throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Diego lands with a straight right. Ger didn't see that one coming.

Ger throws a fast counter high kick but Diego manages to duck under it in time.

Ger shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Diego manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diego pushes Ger away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ger gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ger creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Ger misses with the ground and pound.
Diego is not content to let Ger control the position.
Ger lands an elbow.
Ger lands a nice forearm strike.
Diego is trying to get back to his feet.
The strikes coming from Ger are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Juan Diego has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nig Ger.

A jab from Diego finds it's way through Ger's defenses.
Diego moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Ger feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Diego uses the cage to get back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ger.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Diego connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Ger misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ger closes the distance and clinches up with Diego , looking for a takedown. Ger pushes Diego against the cage but Diego circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Diego lands a left and a right that send Ger crashing to the mat, dazed. Diego thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Ger is rocked!
Diego swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ger is still on wobbly legs! Can Diego finish him?

Diego throws a combination. Ger tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Ger shoots for a double leg takedown but Diego sprawls well. He's pushed Ger's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Diego tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ger paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Diego is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ger seems to have recovered his senses.
Juan Diego is winning the standup battle so far.

Ger shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Diego trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Diego is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diego sprawls well initially but Ger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
