PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Flijers (ranked 5551 p4p, 5884 weight class) and Gorgi Boran (ranked 596 p4p, 612 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ruben Flijers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gorgi Boran !
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flijers just misses with a punch to the body.
Boran is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Flijers thuds a left hand into Boran 's body.
Flijers misses with an uppercut.
Flijers misses with a low kick.
Boran lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Boran fails with the takedown
and Flijers counters with a stiff right hand.
Flijers stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Flijers wants it to stay on the feet.
Boran shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Boran slips under a jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Flijers. Boran does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flijers comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Boran shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Flijers's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Flijers is controlling Boran 's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boran is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Boran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Flijers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Boran has managed to get both his arms back between Flijers's legs - danger averted.
Flijers wants to sweep here but Boran controlling him for the moment.
Flijers is trying to keep Boran in close.
Flijers looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Flijers being controlled here, momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Flijers has his hands on Boran 's head, controlling the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Boran is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Flijers looks to score with a jab to the body but Boran is just out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boran looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boran ducks under a wild hook from Flijers.
Boran takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Boran closes the distance and pushes Flijers back into the cage.
Boran avoids the elbow strike from Flijers, against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Boran avoiding damage as Flijers throws knees to the body.
Flijers tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Flijers tries to work over Boran 's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boran blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Boran decides to pull guard.

Boran is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Flijers stands up over Boran , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Flijers wants to control from the top but Boran keeps moving.
Flijers looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Boran looking for a triangle here. Flijers is fighting it but it looks tight! Boran pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Flijers is tapping out - this one is all over!
