Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Pawlik (ranked 551 p4p, 842 weight class) and James Cole (ranked 64 p4p, 106 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Pawlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 2, fighting out of New York, James Cole!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pawlik ducks under a wild hook from Cole.
Pawlik drops down looking for a counter takedown but Cole sprawls and moves away.
Cole throws the left hand but Pawlik avoids the punch easily.
Pawlik throws a right and a left that both miss.
A big right from Cole misses.
Pawlik tries to counter with a takedown but Cole is quick to defend against it.
Pawlik uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cole.
Cole slaps away a takedown attempt from Pawlik, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pawlik swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Cole now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Cole tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pawlik was well out of range. Poor timing from Cole.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cole throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Pawlik attempts a counter takedown but Cole avoids it well and moves away.
Cole connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pawlik momentarily.
Cole clobbers Pawlik with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Cole fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pawlik manages to avoid it.
Cole has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Pawlik is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Cole scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Pawlik tries to counter with a takedown but Cole is quick to defend against it.

Cole stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cole wants it to stay on the feet.

Cole swings for the body but Pawlik moves out of range.

Nice uppercut lands for Pawlik. That snapped Cole's head back.
Pawlik uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cole.

Cole connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Pawlik's hands.
Cole misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pawlik.

Cole takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Pawlik dodges the punch combination from Cole.
Cole just misses with a punch to the body.
Pawlik goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Cole throws a hook but Pawlik avoids it easily.
Cole leaves Pawlik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cole keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Pawlik lands with a good body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pawlik dives in for a single leg takedown but Cole sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cole goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Pawlik misses with the head strike.
Cole gets through Pawlik's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Pawlik lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Pawlik fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A nice left hand lands by Cole.

Cole breaks the clinch.
Pawlik slips a straight right by Cole.
Pawlik walks into a left hand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pawlik avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cole lands with a hook. Pawlik tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Cole scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Pawlik is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cole sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

so Pawlik counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Cole is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pawlik is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pawlik stands up over Cole, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've been hearing that Pawlik has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Pawlik is working Cole over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Cole has his foot on Pawlik's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pawlik works his way back into a safe position though.

Cole is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pawlik defends well.

Cole escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pawlik gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cole has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dick Pawlik overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pawlik got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cole has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pawlik has managed to get both his arms back between Cole's legs - danger averted.
Pawlik lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Cole had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pawlik defends it easily.

Cole is still in real trouble! Can Pawlik finish him?
Pawlik loads up on a big left hand. Cole felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Pawlik looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Cole can't hide his disappointment, as Pawlik celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dick Pawlik!
