Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gretchen Alexander (ranked 6220 p4p, 3342 weight class) and Bofur Widenose (ranked 709 p4p, 441 weight class). Gretchen Alexander has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gretchen Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bofur Widenose!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander misses with a takedown attempt - Widenose sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Alexander throws a big shot that misses.
Widenose tries for a takedown but Alexander sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Widenose manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Alexander on his heels. He'll look to pass Alexander's guard now, I'm sure.
Widenose postures up.
Widenose wants to pass the guard but Alexander is keeping the position.
Widenose won't allow Alexander to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alexander looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Widenose passes into side control.
Alexander tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Widenose presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Widenose is looking to work his way around to Alexander's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Widenose can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alexander is looking to escape.

Widenose trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alexander on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alexander tries to get out of the position.
Widenose might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alexander haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alexander is desperately trying to improve his position but Widenose has a good base and remains in mount.
Widenose tries to take his opponent's back but Alexander turns with him and manages to move into guard on the top. Nice work.

Widenose working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Alexander has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Widenose keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Alexander throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Widenose is not content to let Alexander control the position.
Widenose tries to roll over but Alexander keeps him under control.
Widenose has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Alexander slips a nice elbow through Widenose's hands, connecting with Widenose's forehead.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alexander is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Widenose has managed to free his arm - good work.
Alexander trying to control from Widenose's half guard. Widenose has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gretchen Alexander will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Widenose closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Alexander quickly recovers to half guard.

Widenose looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Alexander is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Alexander tries to roll over but Widenose keeps him under control.

Widenose wants to pass to mount but Alexander is defending the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Alexander tries to get to full guard but Widenose has control of the leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Widenose shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Alexander tries to kick Widenose off in order to stand up. Widenose Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Widenose has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Alexander is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Widenose trying to control the position but Alexander is working away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Widenose is trying to get an arm triangle but Alexander is defending well.
Widenose wants to control but Alexander is keeping him busy.
Alexander wants to control but Widenose postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Alexander bucks up and tries to throw Widenose off but instead Widenose has got his back!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Widenose has his arm under Alexander's chin here. Game over son! Widenose squeezes tightly and Alexander is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bofur Widenose!
During a confident post fight interview, Bofur Widenose thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
