The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Schlaub - just one landing.

Denovan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Schlaub's guard.
Schlaub wants to get back to his feet but Denovan passes into half guard.

Denovan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Denovan throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Schlaub to regain full guard.
Denovan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Denovan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Denovan trying to control the position from guard on top but Schlaub is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Denovan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Schlaub seems keen to control Denovan's posture.
Denovan stands up over Schlaub, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Schlaub keeping moving, preventing Denovan from controlling successfully.
Denovan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Denovan postures up and lands a big shot to Schlaub's brow.
Denovan trying to control but Schlaub is working from the bottom.
Denovan throws a big right hand that misses.
Denovan with a flurry of punches that miss.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Denovan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schlaub's waist but Schlaub gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Denovan off to one side.

Schlaub has Denovan up against the cage in a clinch.
Schlaub works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Schlaub stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Denovan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Schlaub prevents it.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Schlaub.
Schlaub has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Denovan after a bit of a struggle.

Schlaub has Denovan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Schlaub pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Denovan tumbling to the mat - Schlaub dives into Denovan's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Denovan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schlaub defends well.

Denovan looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Schlaub is defending well. Denovan quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Schlaub has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Denovan celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
