PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Wynn (ranked 3094 p4p, 3056 weight class) and Ben Frank (ranked 405 p4p, 393 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Wynn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ben Frank!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frank wants to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wynn.

Wynn moves into the clinch.

Frank gets control of Wynn's arms and successfully pulls guard. Frank will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Frank being controlled here, momentarily.
Wynn trying to control the position from guard on top but Frank is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frank looking for subs off his back but Wynn has passed one foot through into half guard.

Frank is looking to improve his position.
Wynn stalling.
Frank is looking for a sweep. Wynn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wynn wants to take a breather but Frank is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wynn stands up and beckons Frank to join him on the feet.
Frank shoots in but no luck this time.
Frank shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wynn counters with a nice body shot.

Wynn has Frank up against the cage in a clinch.
Wynn fails to pull guard.

Wynn ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wynn no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Frank has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wynn is proving hard to escape from.
Wynn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Frank's guard.

Frank is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Wynn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Frank is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Frank is working an open guard so Wynn takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Frank scores with a head kick. Wynn tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Wynn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Frank to the mat! Frank manages to get full guard.
Wynn slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wynn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Frank for as long as he can get away with.
Frank wants to stand and escape but Wynn is having none of it.
Wynn trying to control but Frank is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wynn is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wynn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Frank's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Wynn dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Frank misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It looked like Wynn was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Frank tries to sprawl but Wynn drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Frank pushes Wynn off and gets back to his feet.
Wynn throws a right and a left that both miss.
The fight stays on the outside here - Frank looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Peter Wynn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wynn gets the takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wynn tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Wynn stands up.

Frank connects with a high kick.
Frank tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wynn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Frank somewhat.
It appears Wynn was looking to counter with a kick there.

Frank moves into range and clinches up with Wynn.
Frank throws a punch but it's blocked by Wynn.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wynn wants to break free but Frank has control.
Wynn is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Wynn tries for a takedown. No joy.
Frank is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wynn gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Peter Wynn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Frank.

Wynn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wynn shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Frank makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Frank avoids the head kick by Wynn.
Frank wants to clinch.
Wynn drops down looking for a counter takedown but Frank sprawls and moves away.

Frank thuds a left hand into Wynn's body.
A head kick from Frank lands but Wynn takes it in his stride.
Frank misses with a takedown attempt - Wynn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Frank closes the distance and clinches up with Wynn, looking for a takedown. Frank pushes Wynn against the cage but Wynn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wynn leaves Frank with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Peter Wynn is winning the standup battle so far.
Wynn throws a body punch but Frank moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Frank looks for the body kick but Wynn saw that one coming.

Wynn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Frank is working to avoid the ground and pound but Wynn connects with a decent elbow.
Wynn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Frank keeps working.

Wynn has hold of Frank's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Frank tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Wynn cranks the arm and Frank screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Frank, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Peter Wynn!
