PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chito Jacare Salazar (ranked 2131 p4p, 3798 weight class) and Mason Clinton (ranked 247 p4p, 422 weight class). Mason Clinton will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chito Jacare Salazar !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mason Clinton!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salazar shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Salazar trying to control the pace.
Clinton avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Salazar .
Salazar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Salazar with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clinton keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Salazar definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Salazar in particular looking to stall.
Salazar scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Salazar working over Clinton with some ground and pound. Clinton looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Clinton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Salazar . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Still in half guard, Salazar seems content to control.

Salazar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Salazar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Salazar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Clinton is looking for a sweep. Salazar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Clinton taking some punishment here, with Salazar in his half guard.
Salazar is controlling the pace.
Salazar 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Salazar drops an elbow to the side of Clinton's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Salazar connects with a nice short shot to Clinton's temple.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Salazar in particular looking to stall.
Salazar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Salazar slips a nice elbow through Clinton's hands, connecting with Clinton's forehead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salazar lands with a punch from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Salazar connects with a nice short shot to Clinton's temple.
Salazar is controlling the pace.
Salazar works his way into side control.
Clinton can't do much from the bottom here.
Salazar is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Clinton is looking to reverse the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salazar is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Clinton's shoulder. That is not cool.

Salazar content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clinton is trying to get back to half guard.
Salazar lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Clinton down.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chito Jacare Salazar dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Salazar is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Clinton's half guard.

It looks like Mason Clinton has been cut.
Salazar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Salazar looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Clinton covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chito Jacare Salazar !
