PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Cusumano (ranked 1332 p4p, 959 weight class) and Travis Copeland (ranked 191 p4p, 139 weight class). Cusumano's entrance music is Gamefire. A fine choice. Copeland has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Cusumano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Copeland!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Copeland has managed to clinch.
Copeland is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

It looks like Steve Cusumano has been cut.

It looked like Cusumano was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Copeland connects with a body shot that sends Cusumano's belly button to the back.

A little jabbing left from Copeland on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Cusumano is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Copeland gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Our sources have told us that Cusumano has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Cusumano struggles to land a body shot inside as Copeland controls his hands.
Copeland misses with an elbow strike.
Cusumano has Copeland pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Copeland manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Cusumano. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cusumano has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Copeland regains guard immediately.

Steve Cusumano decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Travis Copeland spoke after the fight, saying 'No one likes seeing their opponent's hand raised, but that just means that they were the better man today. My team at 3Band MMA and I will break down this match and make the proper changes for my next camp.'.
