Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maximus Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bong Rip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rip has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hammer is working away from the top position though.
Hammer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hammer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rip gets back to full guard.
Hammer distracts Rip with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rip has momentary wrist control but Hammer slips an elbow through the middle.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hammer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Hammer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hammer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Rip is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rip takes Hammer's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Hammer is in trouble.
