Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Sanchez (ranked 24465 p4p, 4631 weight class) and Grounded Stat (ranked 0 p4p, 206 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammy Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grounded Stat!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stat throws a chopping leg kick but Sanchez manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sanchez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stat's waist but Stat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanchez off to one side.
Stat ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sanchez moves away.
Stat misses with the body kick

and Sanchez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Stat scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Sanchez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sanchez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sanchez closes the distance and pushes Stat back into the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Stat.
Stat is working for takedown but Sanchez is calmly controlling the position for now.

Sanchez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sanchez trying to control the position but Stat is working away.
Stat can't do much from the bottom here.

Stat tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Stat wants to control but Sanchez is having none of it.
Sanchez misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Stat is working to get back to half guard.
Sanchez throwing strikes but Stat uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Stat trying to control from the bottom.
Stat might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sanchez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sanchez is working for a submission of some sort.
Sanchez blocks the strikes from Stat.
Well, if Sanchez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sanchez dives in for a single leg takedown but Stat sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Stat wants to take the fight to the mat but Sanchez manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Stat is trying to pull guard but Sanchez has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stat tries to break free but Sanchez pushes him back against the cage.
Stat drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sanchez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Stat wants to stand and escape but Sanchez is having none of it.
Sanchez is stalling in the full guard.
Sanchez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stat looking to control.

Stat is working an open guard so Sanchez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Stat gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sanchez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stat can do to turn this around?
Sanchez wanted to stand there but Stat had control of the position.
Stat seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Sanchez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stat on the ground.

Sammy Sanchez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stat wants to stand and escape but Sanchez is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Stat looks to clinch

so Sanchez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stat wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment.
Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stat swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stat lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stat pushing down on Sanchez's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Sanchez is trying to stand.

Stat slips a nice elbow through Sanchez's hands, connecting with Sanchez's forehead.
Stat wants to take a breather but Sanchez is having none of it.
Stat working Sanchez over with strikes.
Stat works his foot free and advances to mount.
Sanchez is in all sorts of trouble here.
Sanchez is working hard here to advance position.
Stat thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Stat trying to control but Sanchez is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sanchez tries to hold on but Stat postures up.
Stat wants to control the pace but Sanchez is squirming around nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Grounded Stat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt - Stat sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sanchez plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Sanchez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Stat wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Stat is trying to push Sanchez away but Sanchez has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Sanchez scores a nice knee to the body.
Stat wants a takedown.
Stat is looking to take this one to the mat.

Stat drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sanchez gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sammy Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grounded Stat.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Stat takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sanchez putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Stat in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Stat has had enough of the clinch but Sanchez keeps him there for the moment.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sanchez in particular looking to stall.
Sanchez seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Sanchez seems to be working for a kimura but Stat defends the submission attempt.

Sanchez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Sanchez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stat to the ground. Sanchez is now in Stat's guard.
Stat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sanchez passes Stat's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Stat has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanchez is working away from the top position though.
Sanchez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stat's head.

Stat looking for submissions off his back.
Stat moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stat bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sanchez's guard.


Sanchez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
