PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jake Brown (ranked 7012 p4p, 5179 weight class) and Kevin Creighton (ranked 273 p4p, 229 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Creighton!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown misses with a two punch combination.
Brown misses with the combination.
Creighton tries a quick counter leg kick but Brown is wise to it.
Brown scores with a nice strike.
Creighton works over Brown's head and body with a nice combination.

Brown manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Creighton on his heels. He'll look to pass Creighton's guard now, I'm sure.

Brown not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Creighton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Brown slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Creighton can't do much from the bottom here.

Brown staying calm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Creighton is looking for a sweep.
Brown looks up at the clock and then as Creighton takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Brown smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Brown seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Creighton for as long as he can get away with.
Brown trying to control the action but Creighton is working from the bottom.

Brown decides to stand back up. Brown steps back and let's Creighton get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Creighton scores with a nice body kick.

Creighton pushes Brown up against the cage in a clinch.
Brown trying to stall but Creighton improves his position.
With the fighters up against the cage, Creighton throws an elbow but misses.
Brown is trying to drag Creighton to the mat but Creighton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Creighton drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brown gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Brown is stalling here.

Brown is trying to maintain a safe position but Creighton gets an underhook and turns Brown into the cage.
Brown blocks an uppercut.
Creighton misses with a knee to the head.
Brown has Creighton pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Creighton manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Creighton takes a knee right on the jaw!
Creighton is trying to stall.

Creighton lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Brown goes for a takedown attempt but Creighton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Brown crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Creighton - the referee stops the clock and Brown gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Creighton. Brown manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Creighton wants to take the fight to the mat but Brown manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Creighton tries to land knees in the clinch but Brown avoids the damage to the body.

A head punch on the inside from Creighton fails to land.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Brown is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown content to slow the pace in the clinch.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jake Brown.
Brown looks to throw a body kick

and Creighton counters with a shoot takedown. Brown fights it but they end up in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Creighton sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brown's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kevin Creighton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Creighton is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Jake Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Creighton swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Brown counters by moving into the clinch.

Creighton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Creighton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brown looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Creighton is fending him off so far but Brown persists. Nope, Creighton circles away and we're back to standing.
Jake Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brown drives through with a takedown into guard.

Creighton wriggles free and stands up.
Brown tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Creighton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Brown regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Creighton.
Creighton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brown bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Creighton's guard.

Jake Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brown postures up and lands a big shot to Creighton's brow.
Brown showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Creighton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Creighton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brown defends well.

Creighton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Creighton is breathing heavily.
Brown seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Brown pushing down on Creighton's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Creighton tries to get to full guard but Brown has control of the leg.
Brown content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Creighton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brown is controlling the pace.

Brown is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Creighton is just riding it out for now. Brown eventually gives up the hold.
Brown working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Creighton on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Brown controlling the action here.
Brown continues to stall.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Brown has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Creighton is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Brown dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Brown misses with a two punch combination.
Creighton tries to counter with a clinch but Brown shakes him off and moves away.
Brown is looking to land body kicks.
Brown tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Creighton is able to avoid easily.
Creighton misses with a series of wild punches.
Brown digs a good body shot into Creighton's ribs.
Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Creighton but Creighton pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No joy there for Creighton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Creighton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brown, pushing him back against the cage.

Brown breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Creighton lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Kevin Creighton seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Brown throws a series of strikes that have Creighton backpedaling.

and Creighton counters with a two punch combo.
Jab, jab by Creighton - just one landing.
Brown scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Brown shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Creighton's guard.
Creighton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brown lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Brown wants to pass the guard but Creighton is keeping the position.

Creighton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brown is aware though and is defending well.
Creighton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Creighton looking to control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brown controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Creighton lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Brown blocks an elbow strike.
Creighton is struggling to control the position.
Creighton is pressed up against the cage. Brown has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Creighton down to the mat. Creighton avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Creighton tries a head kick but it misses.

Creighton closes the distance and clinches.
Creighton tries for a takedown. No joy.
Brown taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Brown's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Brown has hold of one of Creighton's legs. Creighton is fighting the takedown attempt but Brown gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Brown is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Creighton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Creighton looking for a sweep. Not yet Creighton, not yet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Brown.
I think Brown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
