Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Wallace (ranked 3308 p4p, 6650 weight class) and Ryo Hazuki (ranked 355 p4p, 605 weight class). Brendan Wallace has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brendan Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryo Hazuki!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hazuki.
Brendan Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wallace moves into range and clinches up with Hazuki.

Wallace successfully pulls guard.
Wallace has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hazuki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallace swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wallace on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wallace tries to get out of the position.

Hazuki has gone for a leg lock! Wallace slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hazuki's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hazuki is looking for a triangle but Wallace pushes his legs off easily.
Hazuki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wallace controls the pace.

Wallace slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Wallace is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hazuki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wallace is one step ahead there.
Hazuki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wallace controls the pace.
Hazuki tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wallace seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hazuki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wallace is aware though and is defending well.

Hazuki looking for a guillotine here but Wallace defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hazuki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wallace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wallace manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wallace wants to control from the top but Hazuki keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hazuki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wallace can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wallace drops back looking for a leg! Hazuki is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hazuki manages to kick Wallace off! Wallace jumps back into Hazuki's guard.
Wallace is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wallace moves into the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brendan Wallace dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hazuki has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wallace avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Hazuki goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wallace prevents it.
Hazuki looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Hazuki tries to roll over but Wallace keeps him under control.

Wallace slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wallace throws a big elbow that misses.
Wallace really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wallace is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Hazuki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hazuki tries to land a sweep but no joy.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Brendan Wallace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hazuki tries to keep at a distance but Wallace has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wallace ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wallace no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hazuki drops back looking for a leg! Wallace is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wallace manages to kick Hazuki off! Hazuki jumps back into Wallace's guard.

Hazuki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wallace is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hazuki, into his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wallace has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wallace accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wallace gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hazuki tries to pull guard but Wallace forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Brendan Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryo Hazuki.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hazuki has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wallace is trying to keep an underhook but Hazuki manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Hazuki is trying to work for a kimura but Wallace is defending well.
Wallace is looking to control Hazuki's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wallace avoid being mounted?
Wallace has his hands clasped together around Hazuki's back. He's all about the action.

Hazuki is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Wallace wants to get back to full guard.
Ryo Hazuki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Wallace slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

I would just about give that final round to Ryo Hazuki.
Well Wallace has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
