Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gyukosho Fujimoto!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babinski misses with the body kick
and Babinski takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Fujimoto closes the distance and clinches.
Fujimoto lands a left hand.
Fujimoto keeps control of Babinski as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've been informed that Fujimoto has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Fujimoto has Babinski pressed against the cage, preventing Babinski from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Fujimoto manages to break the clinch.
Babinski uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fujimoto.
Babinski swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fujimoto throws a big counter head kick but Babinski avoids it with no problem.
Babinski misses with an attempted mid kick.
Fujimoto swings for the body but Babinski moves out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Babinski definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Babinski slips under a jab from Fujimoto.
Babinski throws a jab but it's blocked by Fujimoto.
Fujimoto tries to clinch up but Babinski circles away and keeps his distance.
Babinski avoids a kick to the body.
It looked like Babinski wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Babinski avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
As Fujimoto looks to move away, Babinski throws a big counter combo but Fujimoto just gets out of the way.
Babinski lands with a straight right. Fujimoto didn't see that one coming.

Despite the aggression on Fujimoto's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Fujimoto lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Babinski circles away quickly and effectively.

A looping hook to the body misses from Fujimoto. Babinski does a little dance to reset his feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Babinski darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Babinski misses with an attempted mid kick.
Babinski sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Fujimoto is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Babinski.

Babinski takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Babinski throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Fujimoto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Babinski takes a shot to the head.
Babinski works on Fujimoto's body with a couple of short punches.
Babinski working hard to break the clinch.
Babinski wants to break free but Fujimoto has control.
Fujimoto has a couple of punches blocked by Babinski.
Babinski is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Fujimoto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fujimoto moves into range and clinches up with Babinski.
Fujimoto keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Babinski's efforts to push away.
Fujimoto misses with a hook from the clinch.

Fujimoto struggles to land a body shot inside as Babinski controls his hands.

Babinski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Babinski loads up on a big right hand but Fujimoto slips the punch.

and Fujimoto connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Babinski wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fujimoto works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Fujimoto makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Babinski is breathing heavily.
Babinski tries to circle away but Fujimoto has him pinned against the cage.
Babinski misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Fujimoto lands a body punch in the clinch.
A body shot lands from Fujimoto.

Fujimoto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Fujimoto lands a big right hand that sends Babinski crashing to the mat! Fujimoto stays standing though and waves Babinski back to his feet!

It looks like Viktor Babinski has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Fujimoto engages and cracks Babinski with a massive lead left hook - Babinski tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Fujimoto is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gyukosho Fujimoto!
Gyukosho Fujimoto is the new heavyweight champion!
After winning the bout, Gyukosho Fujimoto thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
