Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dimas Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joseph has chosen Angels Remix Lupe Fiasco as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joseph takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
No luck for Russo with that takedown attempt.

Joseph shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Joseph was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Russo is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Joseph has taken his back!
Russo is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Joseph is punishing Russo with strikes - can he finish him?!
Russo trying to control the hands but Joseph breaks the grip.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Joseph's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Russo is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Russo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joseph gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Joseph is trying to stick to Russo's back but Russo is turning into Joseph. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Joseph's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Russo.
Russo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Russo wants to get up but he can't break Joseph's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Joseph is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Russo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Russo wants to take a breather but Joseph is having none of it.

Joseph is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Joseph is refusing to be controlled, as Russo sits in half guard.
Joseph is trying to stand back up but Russo is controlling him

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Russo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Joseph!

Russo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Joseph looks a forlorn figure.

Russo goes for an armbar but Joseph turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Joseph.
Russo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Joseph might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Russo kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Russo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Russo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Joseph's head.

Russo seems a little lost for a moment, as Joseph dominates the positioning.

Russo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Joseph's best efforts.
Joseph seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Russo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
