Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Durden (ranked 481 p4p, 344 weight class) and Jay Simon (ranked 65 p4p, 45 weight class). Jay Simon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abraham Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Durden.
Abraham Durden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simon waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Durden.
Durden scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Simon misses with an uppercut.
Durden throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Simon throws the left hand but Durden avoids the punch easily.

Simon gets a double leg takedown into Durden's guard.
Simon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Durden pulls Simon in close to prevent any damage.
Simon trying to control the position from guard on top but Durden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Durden keeping full guard, as Simon tries to pass.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simon is still trying to improve position.

Durden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Durden wants to get back to his feet but Simon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Simon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Durden swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A big left from Durden misses.
Durden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Simon.
Simon scores with a hook to the body. Durden takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Simon misses with a body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Durden jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Durden lands a jab-cross combination.
Simon lands a body shot.

Durden lands with a thumping leg kick.
Simon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Durden.
Durden throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Simon works Durden's body with a nice hook.
Durden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Simon.

Simon scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Durden is trying to stand.

Simon is working for a submission of some sort.
Durden looks like he's trying to stand up.
Simon is keen to just control but Durden is a slippery customer.

Simon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Durden wants to control but Simon is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Durden lands the left hand.
Simon uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Durden.
Durden explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Simon fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Durden to the ground. Simon is now in Durden's guard.
Durden wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Simon manages to pass to side control.

Durden is looking to escape.
Simon trying to control from Durden's half guard. Durden has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Durden keeping moving, preventing Simon from controlling successfully.

Simon content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Durden has locked up a guillotine! Durden's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Simon is holding on here and Durden must be using up a lot of energy. Simon has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Durden gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
