PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darius Maximo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maximo comes into the arena with Diamond Rings by Chipmunk blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Darius Maximo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Joey Santos!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Maximo is staying active underneath Santos, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Santos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Maximo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Santos throwing shots but Maximo is blocking nicely.
Santos not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Maximo is trying to get back to full guard.
Santos is thwarting Maximo's attempts to control the position.
Santos sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Maximo defending well though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Maximo drives through and clinches with Santos against the cage.
Santos tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Maximo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Maximo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Maximo lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maximo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Santos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Maximo seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Santos gets back to full guard.
Santos keeping moving, preventing Maximo from controlling successfully.

Maximo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Maximo is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Santos has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Maximo is looking to defend but Santos has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Maximo! Santos pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Maximo taps out and this one is all over!
