The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cup lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peterson circles away quickly and effectively.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cup looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Peterson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cup manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Cup pushes Peterson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Cup works over Peterson's head and body with a nice combination.
Cup throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Peterson stuffs the takedown attempt from Cup. Cup gets slowly back to his feet.

Peterson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Peterson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cup to see if he's OK.

We've been hearing that Peterson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Peterson tries to score with some ground and pound. Cup controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Cup pushes Peterson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Peterson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Peterson with the ground and pound but Cup regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Peterson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cup with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cup is staying active underneath Peterson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Peterson lands a big elbow - Cup is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Peterson!
