PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Cardozo (ranked 1903 p4p, 1507 weight class) and Lou Valentine (ranked 259 p4p, 212 weight class). Cardozo comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Lord Give Me A Sign. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Cardozo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lou Valentine!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cardozo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Valentine looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Valentine felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cardozo works to advance to full mount. Valentine defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Valentine is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cardozo trying to control but Valentine is having none of it.

Cardozo goes for an armbar but Valentine turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Valentine.
Cardozo controls Valentine momentarily but Valentine frees himself.
Valentine pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cardozo is keeping the position for now.

Cardozo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Valentine defends it easily.
Valentine trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Valentine drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Valentine jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Valentine has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cardozo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Valentine is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cardozo pulls down on the head and he's put Valentine to sleep! This one is all over!
