PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chaz Campbell (ranked 3071 p4p, 6618 weight class) and Sebastian Ramirez (ranked 388 p4p, 638 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chaz Campbell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastian Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramirez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Campbell to the mat! Campbell manages to get full guard.

Campbell has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ramirez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Campbell has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Ramirez is trying to trip Campbell. He has hold of a leg but Campbell is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ramirez persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Chaz Campbell will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Campbell stalks Ramirez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ramirez's face. Ramirez staggers backwards, shaken.
Campbell throws a jab but it's blocked by Ramirez.
Ramirez shoots in for a double leg but Campbell sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Campbell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ramirez moves away.
Campbell works over Ramirez's head and body with a nice combination.
Ramirez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Campbell went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Campbell closes the distance and lands a one-two.
No joy there for Campbell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Campbell swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Campbell has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ramirez is on him like a limpet, forcing Campbell back against the cage.

Campbell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ramirez can do to turn this around?

Ramirez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Campbell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ramirez uses his free foot to push down on Campbell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Campbell.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chaz Campbell.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Campbell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
