PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toxic Avenger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark MacLeod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Avenger comes to the cage accompanied by Misfits - We are 138. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avenger drops his hands momentarily and MacLeod takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

MacLeod gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Avenger seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

MacLeod wants to sweep here but Avenger controlling him for the moment.
Avenger not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Toxic Avenger just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

MacLeod looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Avenger rushes MacLeod and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Avenger has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. MacLeod is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

MacLeod is trying to break the clinch but Avenger has him pressed against the cage.
Avenger drops down looking for an ankle pick but MacLeod pulls his leg out and moves away.

Avenger drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
MacLeod wants to get back to his feet but Avenger drags him back down.

Avenger is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. MacLeod knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Avenger remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Avenger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Avenger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Avenger decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Avenger is taking a breather. MacLeod says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
MacLeod tries to get to full guard but Avenger has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Avenger is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

MacLeod is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Avenger in particular looking to stall.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Toxic Avenger just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
MacLeod rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Avenger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Horrible takedown by Avenger or perhaps it was just good defense by MacLeod which made him look bad.
MacLeod throws a good cross that connects.
Good work by Avenger as he checks the leg kick.
Avenger looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? MacLeod is fending him off so far but Avenger persists. Nope, MacLeod circles away and we're back to standing.
MacLeod swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
MacLeod pivots, looking for a leg kick but Avenger is out of range and MacLeod settles back down.
Some bone on bone action there as Avenger checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

MacLeod connects with a right hand. Avenger shakes it off.
Avenger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says MacLeod as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Toxic Avenger. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Avenger fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with MacLeod, pushing him back against the cage.
Avenger tries to score a body lock takedown but MacLeod shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
MacLeod wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Avenger goes for a takedown attempt but MacLeod pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
MacLeod misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No luck for Avenger with that takedown attempt.

MacLeod tries to keep at a distance but Avenger has taken the fight into the clinch.
MacLeod has had enough of the clinch but Avenger keeps him there for the moment.
MacLeod is looking to break free of the clinch but Avenger has double underhooks.
Avenger changes levels and goes for a takedown here. MacLeod fights it off and pushes away nicely.
MacLeod throws a right hand that Avenger ducks under and follows up with a left that Avenger also avoids with ease.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
MacLeod walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Avenger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in MacLeod's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Avenger, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
