PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tong Po (ranked 8 p4p, 40 weight class) and Melek Taus (ranked 2 p4p, 7 weight class). Po comes to the cage accompanied by Muay Thai Music - Wai Khru Ram Muay. Taus has chosen I Am The Upsetter as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melek Taus!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy body kick from Taus
and Po connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
An inside leg kick from Taus misses.
Po pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Po. Taus does a little dance to reset his feet.
Po throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Taus sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Taus now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Po tries a head kick but it misses.
Po misses with a shot to the body
and Taus counters with a left to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Taus dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Po scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Po definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Po throws a hook but Taus avoids it easily.
Taus cracks Po with a good jab.
A thudding body kick lands there by Taus!
Taus dodges the punch combination from Po.
A head kick misses from Po.
Taus looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Taus thows a leg kick but Po checks it
and Po makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Taus really felt that one!

Po swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Po throws a hook to the side of Taus's head but Taus sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Taus throws a half hearted mid kick.
Po just misses with a punch to the body.
Po swings away with a body shot that misses
and Taus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nice shot lands for Po.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Po swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Taus scores with the left hand. Po knows he should have avoided that one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Taus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Po blocks the body kick.
A jab from Taus does it's job there.
Po moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Po is looking to counter punch.
Taus throws a shot from downtown. Po moves away and avoids it.
Po throws a quick counter kick to the body but Taus avoids it.
Taus buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Po digs a good body shot into Taus's ribs.
Taus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Po.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Po throws a sloppy head kick and Taus moves out of range easily.
Taus lands with a right hand.
A combination from Po does no damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Po throws an off balance right hand
and Taus counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Po looks to throw a body kick
and Taus counters with a stiff right hand.

Po is rocked!
Taus connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Taus is looking to land body kicks.
Taus works Po's body with a nice hook.
Taus rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Po counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Melek Taus will probably get the nod.

Po lands with a hook. Taus tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taus swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Taus throws a predictable looking body shot
and Po counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Po slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Po ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Po is looking to counter punch.
Po connects with a single shot there.
Po moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Taus drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Po feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Taus sprawling to the canvas! Taus rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Po finish him?!

Taus is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Taus is holding his hands too far apart here. Po throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Taus is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tong Po!
Tong Po retains his light heavyweight title!
After winning the bout, Tong Po thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
