PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harald Gormsson (ranked 5 p4p, 41 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 1 p4p, 8 weight class). Gormsson comes to the cage accompanied by Saor - Children of the Mist. The crowd seem to be enjoying Po's choice of entrance music: Muay Thai Music - Wai Khru Ram Muay. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gormsson swings for the body but Po moves out of range.
Po throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gormsson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Gormsson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Harald Gormsson has been cut.
Gormsson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Po tries to clinch but Gormsson moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Gormsson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

A counter left hand to the body from Gormsson misses its target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Po scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Po stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Gormsson lands with a nice body punch.
Gormsson ducks right into an uppercut from Po.

Gormsson lands the left hand.
Gormsson tries a head kick but it misses.

Po lands a big uppercut and Gormsson crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Gormsson looks OK. Po waves Gormsson back to his feet!

Po looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Gormsson throws a sloppy head kick and Po moves out of range easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gormsson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Po counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Gormsson is breathing heavily.

Po clinches with his opponent.
Po working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Po tries a body shot but Gormsson blocks it.
Po prevents a body shot from Gormsson.

Po breaks the clinch.
Gormsson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A little jabbing left from Po on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Po looks to land a right hand but Gormsson moved out of range.
Po throws a series of punches but Gormsson moves out of range.
Gormsson throws a body punch but Po moves out of range.
Po stuns Gormsson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Gormsson throws a push kick but Po slaps the foot to one side.
Gormsson works Po's body with a nice hook.
Po throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gormsson's head.

Po feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gormsson sprawling to the canvas! Gormsson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Po finish him?!

Po loads up on a big right hand but Gormsson slips the punch.
Po has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Po moves out of range of the body kick.
Po raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Po lands with a big right hook that stumbles Gormsson - he's out on his feet here! Po follows up with another monster hook that separates Gormsson from consciousness! Gormsson falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Po stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tong Po!
Tong Po is the new light heavyweight champion!
A relieved looking Tong Po thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
