Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zee Land (ranked 1598 p4p, 2124 weight class) and Greg Fitzgerald (ranked 196 p4p, 247 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Land might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to For Heavy Metal we will die!. Fitzgerald has chosen It's Bedtime by NSP as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Land with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fitzgerald darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Fitzgerald throws a looping overhand right but Land ducks down to avoid it.
Fitzgerald fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Land manages to avoid it.
Land chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Land closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fitzgerald blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

A right hook to the body lands for Land.
Fitzgerald wants to break free but Land has control.

Land really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Land lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Fitzgerald backwards.
Land digs a right hand underneath Fitzgerald's ribcage. Fitzgerald let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Fitzgerald gets through Land's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Land tries to work over Fitzgerald's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Land tries to pull guard but Fitzgerald holds him up against the cage and eventually Land drops back down to his feet.

Fitzgerald swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Land jumps guard but Fitzgerald stands there with Land around his waist. Land gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Fitzgerald's coach down at Punch out was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Fitzgerald's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zee Land. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Land has his foot on Fitzgerald's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fitzgerald works his way back into a safe position though.
Land is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Land looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Fitzgerald is defending well. Land quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Fitzgerald has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Land celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Zee Land!
In his post fight interview, Zee Land started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Greg Fitzgerald spoke after the fight, saying 'This isn't it for me. I still want to earn a belt around my waist. My gigantic body still has a lot left in the tank and a lot more bones to break. '.
