PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Dalborg (ranked 2854 p4p, 3519 weight class) and Rory Riddle (ranked 379 p4p, 446 weight class). Dalborg comes to the cage accompanied by Slipnot - Solway Firth. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dennis Dalborg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rory Riddle!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalborg stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dalborg wants it to stay on the feet.
Dalborg slaps away a takedown attempt from Riddle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Riddle staying out of range there.
Dalborg misses the jab.

Dalborg closes the distance and clinches.
Dalborg controlling the action here for a moment.
Riddle tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dalborg just stands there and leans against the cage.
Dennis Dalborg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rory Riddle.
Riddle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riddle jumps guard and drags Dalborg to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Dalborg tries to free his leg and advance position but Riddle is retaining full guard.

Riddle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dalborg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dalborg wants to get up but he can't break Riddle's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dalborg trying to control the position from guard on top but Riddle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Riddle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Dalborg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riddle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dalborg has managed to get both his arms back between Riddle's legs - danger averted.
Riddle lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Riddle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Riddle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dalborg wants to get back to his feet but Riddle is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Riddle.
Riddle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dalborg but Dalborg pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Dalborg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Riddle gets control of Dalborg's arms and successfully pulls guard. Riddle will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Riddle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dalborg is aware though and is defending well.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Riddle is on top in guard.

Riddle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dalborg is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dalborg gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Dalborg on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dalborg tries to get out of the position.

Riddle jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Dalborg is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Dalborg and Riddle has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riddle tries to advance to mount but Dalborg denies him.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Riddle is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dalborg knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's time! Dalborg's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Still in the clinch, Dalborg scores with a nice short uppercut.

Riddle tries to pull guard but Dalborg holds him up against the cage and eventually Riddle drops back down to his feet.
Riddle jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dalborg walks away with a smile on his face. Riddle gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Dalborg takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Riddle lands a really nice looking cross but Dalborg seems unphased.

The referee is keeping an eye on Dalborg - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Riddle jumps guard but Dalborg stands there with Riddle around his waist. Riddle gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Dalborg counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Riddle out cold! What a finish! Dalborg is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dennis Dalborg!
A very excited looking Dennis Dalborg rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
