This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Chike Obi! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Rylee Mannion!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Mannion closes the distance and clinches.
Obi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mannion smiles and moves away.
Obi wants to clinch up but Mannion keeps it at a distance.

and Mannion decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Obi's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Obi (0) vs (2) Mannion
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mannion trying to control but Obi is working from the bottom.
Obi controls Mannion momentarily but Mannion frees himself.
Obi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mannion can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mannion wants to control from the top but Obi keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Obi looking for subs off his back but Mannion has passed one foot through into half guard.
Obi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Obi is looking to control Mannion's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Obi avoid being mounted?
Mannion takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Obi looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Mannion pushes past his half guard into mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Obi (0) vs (5) Mannion
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mannion working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Obi slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Obi looking for submissions off his back.
Obi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mannion pulls his head out easily.
Mannion prevents Obi from improving his position.

Obi is not content to let Mannion control the position.
Obi is trying to get back to full guard.
Obi trying to control from the bottom.
Mannion is taking a breather. Obi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Obi wants to improve his position but Mannion is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Obi won't allow Mannion to pass to mount.
The fighters are battling for position here. Obi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Obi trying to keep a closed guard but Mannion is proving a slippery customer.
Obi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mannion doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Obi is tightening it up a little... Mannion has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mannion reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mannion taps out! Nice BJJ there by Obi!
