PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gabe Shade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Crazy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crazy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Crazy Train. On his way into the cage it seems that Gabe Shade has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gabe Shade seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gabe Shade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crazy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shade swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shade closes the distance and clinches up with Crazy, looking for a takedown. Shade pushes Crazy against the cage but Crazy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Crazy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shade moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

so Shade counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Shade is looking to work some ground and pound but Crazy has wrist control.
Crazy doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Crazy trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Shade is working Crazy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Shade postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Crazy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shade. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shade passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Shade has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Crazy tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shade tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shade has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Crazy pushes Shade away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shade gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Crazy throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Crazy is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shade asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Shade wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Crazy, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crazy wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Shade connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Crazy momentarily.
Shade will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Crazy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Shade clinches up with Crazy and pushes him back against the cage.

Crazy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shade avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Crazy lands a slapping body shot.
Shade keeps the fight on the outside.
Crazy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shade shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Crazy gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Crazy tightens his grip and picks Shade up, before dumping him to the ground. Shade manages to land in guard.

Crazy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shade, up you get!
Joe Crazy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Crazy's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Crazy duly obliges.
Shade is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Crazy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Crazy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shade.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shade closes the distance and pushes Crazy back into the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Crazy counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Crazy.
Crazy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shade pulls his leg out and moves away.

Shade gets the takedown into side control.
Shade tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Shade connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Crazy some visible discomfort.
Crazy is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shade has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shade creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Crazy sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shade cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Crazy tries to hold on but Shade pushes him away.
Crazy is bucking up trying to escape but Shade cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Shade scoring with strikes but Crazy is staying in there.
Shade throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Shade is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Crazy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Gabe Shade is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Crazy is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shade, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
