Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis has chosen Tubthumping as his entrance music. Jose Sanchez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hunter Lewis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hunter Lewis!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sanchez sprawls well initially but Lewis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sanchez is doing well to control the position and prevent Lewis from advancing to side control.
Sanchez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lewis scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sanchez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sanchez is working hard here to advance position.
Lewis wants to control but Sanchez is keeping him busy.
Lewis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lewis seems to be looking for submissions.

Lewis is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lewis to get the leverage.

Lewis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanchez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lewis.
Sanchez is looking to escape.

Lewis is keen to just control but Sanchez is a slippery customer.
Sanchez is looking to control Lewis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sanchez avoid being mounted?

Lewis is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lewis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Sanchez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lewis to the mat! Lewis manages to get full guard.

Lewis looking for a guillotine here but Sanchez defends easily.
Lewis wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment.

Sanchez thows a big elbow that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez shoots for a double leg takedown but Lewis sprawls well. He's pushed Sanchez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lewis misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lewis lands with a kick to the temple. Sanchez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Sanchez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lewis's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lewis wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez trying to control but Lewis is working from the bottom.
Lewis is looking to stand up but Sanchez isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanchez stays in close to Lewis's body and controls the position.
Lewis keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully.
Lewis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Sanchez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The referee warns Sanchez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lewis has control of Sanchez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sanchez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Sanchez tries to lock up and control but Lewis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lewis has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Sanchez is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hunter Lewis!
