Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Champlain (ranked 4476 p4p, 3536 weight class) and Sergei Blumm (ranked 491 p4p, 423 weight class). Blumm has chosen The More You Know as his entrance music. Gerald Champlain has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gerald Champlain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergei Blumm!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.

Champlain drives through and clinches with Blumm against the cage.
Champlain lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Champlain keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Blumm's efforts to push away.
Champlain has a couple of punches blocked by Blumm.
Blumm is trying to break free.
Blumm is trying to push Champlain away but Champlain has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Blumm breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Blumm looks to land a combination. Champlain sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Blumm's coach down at Navy Street MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Blumm's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Blumm ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Champlain moves away.
Blumm dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Blumm fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blumm will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Champlain shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Champlain throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Blumm stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Blumm dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Blumm will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Champlain feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Champlain connects with a couple of short punches.
Blumm is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Champlain controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Blumm wants to sweep here but Champlain controlling him for the moment.
Champlain is working Blumm over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Champlain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Blumm controls Champlain momentarily but Champlain frees himself.
Champlain stands up over Blumm, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Champlain is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Blumm can do anything to dispel that myth.
Champlain is nestled in close to Blumm, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Blumm is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Champlain scores with a couple of nice shots.

Blumm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Champlain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've been hearing that Champlain has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Champlain lands a big elbow - Blumm is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Champlain!

In his post fight interview, Gerald Champlain started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
