Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chicken Destroyer (ranked 1857 p4p, 1858 weight class) and Steve Butabi (ranked 229 p4p, 230 weight class). Steve Butabi has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chicken Destroyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Butabi!

Butabi throws a jab but it's blocked by Destroyer.

Butabi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Destroyer is on top in guard.

Butabi is looking for a triangle but Destroyer pushes his legs off easily.
Destroyer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Butabi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Destroyer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Butabi has an active guard here but Destroyer has managed to pass into half guard.
Butabi has hold of Destroyer's hands but Destroyer slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Butabi tries to roll over but Destroyer keeps him under control.

Destroyer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Butabi is looking for a sweep. Destroyer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Destroyer has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Destroyer is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Butabi has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Destroyer connects with a nice short shot to Butabi's temple.

Butabi has his foot on Destroyer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Destroyer works his way back into a safe position though.

Destroyer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Butabi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Destroyer has managed to get both his arms back between Butabi's legs - danger averted.
Destroyer postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Destroyer wants to get up but he can't break Butabi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Destroyer lands a couple of digs.

Butabi looking for a triangle here. Destroyer is fighting it but it looks tight! Butabi pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Destroyer is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Steve Butabi!
After winning the bout, Steve Butabi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
