PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Rios (ranked 1665 p4p, 2289 weight class) and Dean Corll (ranked 246 p4p, 325 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Corll's choice of entrance music: Candyman. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Rios!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dean Corll!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.

Corll looks to throw the jab but Rios is out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Rios on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Corll throws a lazy head kick

and Rios counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Rios is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Corll defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rios stalling away here and it's allowed Corll to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Rios wants to pass the guard but Corll is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rios not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rios drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Corll manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rios has Corll in his guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Corll working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

A close round but Dean Corll will probably get the nod.

Rios shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Corll is trying to defend but Rios finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Rios seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Corll does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rios is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rios is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Corll doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rios.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rios throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Corll to regain full guard.
Rios trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Corll is adopting a defensive guard.
Rios looking to sit in guard and control but Corll gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Rios is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Rios has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Corll is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rios.

Rios looking for a sweep but Corll has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Rios tries to reverse the position but Corll maintains control.
Rios squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Corll pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
We've been hearing good reports from Rios's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dean Corll showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Corll displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rios throws out the jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Corll! But no joy.

Corll drops Rios with a beautiful combination! Rios stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Corll is looking for the KO!

Rios is rocked!

It looks like Adam Rios has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rios throws a lazy uppercut
and Corll counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dean Corll!
Dean Corll seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
