With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Mckean!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.

Mckean takes the fight into the clinch.

Mckean drags the fight down to the ground.
Mckean wants to sweep but no luck.
Mckean keeping full guard, as Lock tries to pass.
Mckean is pulling down on Lock's head to control his posture.
Mckean trying to keep a closed guard but Lock is proving a slippery customer.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lock accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lock trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mckean has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lock can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mckean has momentary wrist control but Lock slips an elbow through the middle.
Mckean is trying to keep Lock in close.
Lock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mckean works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Lock forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lock wants to pass the guard but Mckean is defending well.
Lock throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lock looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Lock missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Lock is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mckean is just riding it out for now. Lock eventually gives up the hold.

Lock is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Mckean still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Mckean has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mckean thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lock is looking to regain half guard here but Mckean keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mckean looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Lock is looking to reverse the position.
Lock is working hard here to advance position.

Mckean has an Americana. Lock didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mckean is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mckean hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). James Mckean!
After the fight, James Mckean was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
