Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Murad Sultanovitch!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sultanovitch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Emelianenko pinned against the cage. Emelianenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Emelianenko fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sultanovitch sprawls well initially but Emelianenko persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sultanovitch tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Sultanovitch kicks off Emelianenko and gets to his feet.
Sultanovitch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Emelianenko counters with a head kick. That will keep Sultanovitch thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Sultanovitch swats away the attempt to clinch by Emelianenko.

and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sultanovitch won't be happy with that.
Fedor Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Murad Sultanovitch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Emelianenko stands up.
Sultanovitch throws a right hand that Emelianenko ducks under and follows up with a left that Emelianenko also avoids with ease.

and Emelianenko counters with a shoot takedown. Sultanovitch fights it but they end up in guard.

Emelianenko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Emelianenko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Sultanovitch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Emelianenko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Emelianenko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Sultanovitch looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Emelianenko! Submission of the night perhaps?
