Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Musso Mazi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jerry Woodcrest!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mazi tries to clinch but Woodcrest moves out of range.
Woodcrest shoots in for a takedown but Mazi shows good takedown defense.
Mazi seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Woodcrest pushes Mazi up against the cage in a clinch.

Woodcrest escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mazi shoots in but no luck this time.
Mazi shoots in for a double leg but Woodcrest sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mazi leaves Woodcrest with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Woodcrest takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mazi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mazi wants it to stay on the feet.
Musso Mazi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Woodcrest.
Woodcrest closes the distance and clinches up with Mazi, looking for a takedown. Woodcrest pushes Mazi against the cage but Mazi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mazi tries to clinch there but Woodcrest circles away.
Mazi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woodcrest as he jumps to the side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mazi tries for a takedown but Woodcrest sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mazi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Woodcrest paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mazi enables Woodcrest to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mazi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mazi is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Woodcrest successfully pulls guard.
Woodcrest pulls Mazi in to control the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Woodcrest is on top in guard.

Woodcrest stays in close to Mazi's body and controls the position.
Mazi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Woodcrest is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mazi looking for a guillotine here but Woodcrest defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woodcrest postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woodcrest showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Woodcrest is pushing down on Mazi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mazi is fighting to maintain full guard but Woodcrest has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mazi is trying to control but Woodcrest manages to pass to mount!
Woodcrest lands a heavy elbow.

Woodcrest is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mazi has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Woodcrest tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mazi has given up his back here.
Mazi wants to control his opponent's hands but Woodcrest gets his hands free.

Mazi defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Woodcrest really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Mazi.
Mazi could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Woodcrest not allowing Mazi to control his hands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Woodcrest dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Woodcrest misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mazi is looking to counter the offense by Woodcrest and move into the clinch.

Woodcrest lands a left and a right that send Mazi crashing to the mat, dazed. Woodcrest thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Mazi is rocked!

It looks like Musso Mazi has been cut.
Woodcrest closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mazi circles away.
Oh Mazi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jerry Woodcrest seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Woodcrest drives through and clinches with Mazi against the cage.

Woodcrest pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Woodcrest moves into the clinch.
Woodcrest throws a big uppercut that drops Mazi! More strikes from Woodcrest and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Mazi lies dazed against the cage as Woodcrest celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jerry Woodcrest!
