Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julio Jose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brayan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brayan Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Jose on that attempt.
No luck for Jose with that takedown attempt.

Jose has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jose working some nice short punches in the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Jose has Smith pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smith manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jose has gone for a leg lock! Smith slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jose's guard.

Jose is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jose. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jose will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Smith lets loose with a powerful body kick. Jose will feel that in the morning.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith tries to land a front kick but Jose steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Smith moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jose looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Smith throws a half hearted mid kick.

Jose closes the distance and clinches.

Jose drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith tries to work over Jose's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith misses with a kick to the body.

Jose shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jose showed some decent athleticism there.
Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jose trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jose slips a nice elbow through Smith's hands, connecting with Smith's forehead.

Jose shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Jose keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jose tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.
Smith throws a right and a left that Jose avoids nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jose lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively.
Julio Jose is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice cross by Smith.
Smith takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Jose shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.
Jose throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jose off to one side.
Brayan Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Jose counters with a left to the body.

Brayan Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Smith takes a swing at Jose's ribcage but misses.

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jose thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jose tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Jose won't allow Smith to get back to his feet.
Jose advances position into side control!
Smith tries to bench press Jose off him but Jose keeps the position.

Jose has hold of Smith's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Smith seems comfortable defending it but Jose has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Smith is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Smith is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jose couldn't care less - he's delighted!
