PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between LL Jay (ranked 3702 p4p, 4381 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

Jay connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Diaz takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Diaz staying out of range there.
Jay darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Jay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jay fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Diaz gets tackled into the cage by Jay. Jay maintains the clinch.
Jay tries a body shot but Diaz blocks it.
Jay lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jay lands a hook that snaps the head of Diaz backwards.
Diaz blocks an uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jay lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Diaz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Jay.
Jay definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jay tries a body shot but Diaz blocks it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Diaz has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jay lands with a light punch inside.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jay creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jay lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Diaz or not.

Jay stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Jay dips a shoulder and cracks Diaz with a mighty uppercut! Diaz falls back against the cage and Jay unloads with a barrage of strikes! Diaz is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Jay screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

In his post fight interview, LL Jay started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
