PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Sins (ranked 4905 p4p, 4785 weight class) and Buzz Armstrong (ranked 514 p4p, 503 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Sins wants to clinch

and Armstrong counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Sins!
Sins tries to bench press Armstrong off him but Armstrong keeps the position.
Sins struggling a bit here.
Armstrong tries to move to mount but Sins blocks the move with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Sins's face as Armstrong controls the position.
It looks like Armstrong might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Armstrong is landing with some decent strikes but Sins is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Armstrong lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Armstrong fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sins sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Sins wants to control but Armstrong is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Sins gets back to half guard.
Sins trying to hold on to Armstrong's head to control him but Armstrong postures up.
Sins tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Armstrong has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Armstrong gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Armstrong wants to counter the offense by Sins and move into the clinch position.
Sins fails with an attempt to clinch.

Sins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Armstrong manages to get himself to full guard.

Armstrong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sins defends well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Armstrong pulls Sins in close to prevent any damage.

Well Armstrong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
