Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bret Bateman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and James Atkins.

Bateman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Savage is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Savage wants to stand but Bateman has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Savage trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Savage wants to take a breather but Bateman is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Savage is trying to control. Bateman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bateman tries to get to full guard but Savage has control of the leg.

Savage prevents Bateman from improving his position.
Savage wants to stand up but Bateman is controlling the position.
Bateman wants to improve his position but Savage is controlling well.
Savage blocks the strikes from Bateman.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Savage works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

It looks like Bret Bateman has been cut.

Bateman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Savage manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Bateman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Savage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bateman throws an elbow that misses. Savage uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bateman's guard. Nice move by Savage!

Bateman wants to sweep here but Savage controlling him for the moment.
Bateman trying to keep a closed guard but Savage is proving a slippery customer.
Bateman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Savage is one step ahead there.
Savage tries to stand but Bateman is controlling from the bottom.
Savage wants to control from the top but Bateman keeps moving.
Bateman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bateman controls Savage momentarily but Savage frees himself.
Bateman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bateman can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Savage lands a head shot.
Bateman rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Savage counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Savage swats away the attempt to clinch by Bateman.
Bateman throws the kick towards the body but Savage avoids it.
A punch lands to the side of Bateman 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Savage keeps the fight on the outside.

Savage feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Bateman sprawling to the canvas! Bateman rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Savage finish him?!

Bateman is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bateman is aggressively charging in as Savage backs up avoiding any damage. Savage tosses out a jab and Bateman runs right into it face first! Bateman is out cold! Savage dropped down on all fours and is barking in Bateman's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bloody Savage!
