PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Jenkins (ranked 4865 p4p, 5026 weight class) and Patrick Star (ranked 416 p4p, 424 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Star's choice of entrance music: shark. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Star has closed the distance and engaged Jenkins in a clinch.
Jenkins is looking to take this one to the mat.
Jenkins is trying to drag Star to the mat but Star just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Star manages to pull guard.
Star looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jenkins is one step ahead there.
Jenkins prevents Star from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Star is trying to keep Jenkins in close.
Jenkins slips nicely into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Star utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Star avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jenkins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jenkins postures up in Star's guard and throws a big left but Star blocks it.
Jenkins stands and throws Star's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jenkins creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jenkins lands some shots froms side control.
Star sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Jenkins lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Jenkins misses with a head shot. Star uses the momentum to regain guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jenkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jenkins keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Star's head.
Star is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Star trying to control from half guard but Jenkins is working away.

Star is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jenkins doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Star.
Star not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Star not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jenkins tries to roll over but Star keeps him under control.
Jenkins on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jenkins tries to get out of the position.
Jenkins trying to hold on to Star's head to control him but Star postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Star throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Leroy Jenkins will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jenkins gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Star trying to control but Jenkins is working from the bottom.
Star might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jenkins haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Star slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Star seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Leroy Jenkins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Star shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jenkins's guard.

Star is sitting in close to Jenkins's body. Jenkins has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Star is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Star is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Jenkins.
