PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Larry Bearhazard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Howard Beale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beale has chosen Mad As Hell as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Bearhazard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Howard Beale!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Bearhazard - that will leave a mark!
An inside leg kick from Beale misses.
Bearhazard lands a head kick. Beale smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Beale is rocked!

Beale looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bearhazard is fending him off so far but Beale persists. Nope, Bearhazard circles away and we're back to standing.
Bearhazard throws a nice outside leg kick.
Larry Bearhazard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beale looks gassed!
Bearhazard lands a nice looking kick to the body. Beale takes a step back to recover.
Bearhazard feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Beale's calf.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bearhazard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Beale counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bearhazard's guard now.
Beale tries to stand but Bearhazard is controlling from the bottom.

Bearhazard pushes Beale off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Beale tries to clinch up but Bearhazard circles away and keeps his distance.
Bearhazard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Beale as he avoids it easily.
Bearhazard fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Bearhazard. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bearhazard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Beale circles away.
Bearhazard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Beale but Beale pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Beale throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bearhazard's waist but Bearhazard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beale off to one side.

so Beale counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Beale drops back looking for a leg! Bearhazard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bearhazard manages to kick Beale off! Beale jumps back into Bearhazard's guard.

Bearhazard is looking for a triangle but Beale pushes his legs off easily.
Beale trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Beale counters with a shoot takedown. Bearhazard fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Bearhazard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beale is controlling him.

Bearhazard stuffs the takedown attempt from Beale. Beale gets slowly back to his feet.

Bearhazard lets loose with a powerful body kick. Beale will feel that in the morning.

and Beale counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bearhazard is trying to control the position but Beale postures up.

Beale is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bearhazard is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bearhazard has escaped and now he's on top!

Bearhazard stands up and waves to Beale to follow him.

Beale drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Beale decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bearhazard, up you get!
Bearhazard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Beale counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Beale.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Beale looks for a takedown but Bearhazard sprawls well.
Bearhazard looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Beale doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Beale counters with a single leg into guard. Bearhazard didn't expect that.
Beale stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bearhazard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bearhazard controls Beale momentarily but Beale frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bearhazard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beale is controlling him.
Bearhazard throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Beale wants to control from the top but Bearhazard keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bearhazard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bearhazard uses his free foot to push down on Beale's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Beale.

Beale wants to hold on but Bearhazard pushes him away.
Beale can't escape the position.

Bearhazard is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Beale has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Beale!

Bearhazard has given up his back here.

I really don't envy Bearhazard right now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Beale has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bearhazard has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Howard Beale showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Bearhazard circles away from the clinch attempt.

Bearhazard is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Beale breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Beale has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bearhazard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Beale takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bearhazard gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Bearhazard tries to keep at a distance but Beale has taken the fight into the clinch.

Beale not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Beale is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bearhazard decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Bearhazard tries a head kick but it misses.

Beale feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Beale drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bearhazard manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Beale has Bearhazard in his guard.
Bearhazard wants to pass the guard but Beale is keeping the position.
Beale wants to sweep but no luck.
Bearhazard wants to control from the top but Beale keeps moving.
Beale wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bearhazard manages to pass to side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bearhazard is looking for a kimura here.
Beale is trying to stand.
Beale is trying to get back to full guard.
Larry Bearhazard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Beale wants to control but Bearhazard is keeping busy.

Bearhazard is looking for a kimura but Beale is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bearhazard to get the leverage.
Bearhazard is nestled in close to Beale, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

And that's the end of the fight!
Larry Bearhazard showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Beale has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
