The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lightning avoids the head kick by ortiz.

Lightning drags the fight down to the ground.
ortiz wants to stand and escape but instead Lightning has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lightning is in close to ortiz's body, working some short punches and elbows.
ortiz wants to get back to his feet but Lightning is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lightning gets to his feet - ortiz follows without any prompting.

A jab-cross combination lands for Lightning and sends ortiz crashing to the mat! Lightning follows him down to the mat - ortiz regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Lightning stops ortiz from getting back to his feet.
Lightning uses his free foot to push down on ortiz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for ortiz.

Lightning has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, ortiz has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
