PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Gunnarsson (ranked 4833 p4p, 7140 weight class) and Jace Makoniko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Magnus Gunnarsson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Magnus Gunnarsson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The fighters circling - Gunnarsson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Makoniko shoots in and drives through. Gunnarsson sprawls well.

Gunnarsson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Makoniko throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gunnarsson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Makoniko is in Gunnarsson's guard.

Makoniko stands and steps away. Gunnarsson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

It looked like Gunnarsson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Gunnarsson throws a nice looking combination but Makoniko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Magnus Gunnarsson will probably get the nod.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Makoniko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Makoniko throws a right hand that Gunnarsson ducks under and follows up with a left that Gunnarsson also avoids with ease.

Makoniko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gunnarsson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gunnarsson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Makoniko scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Gunnarsson is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Makoniko can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

After winning the bout, Jace Makoniko thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
