PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Irish Power (ranked 4323 p4p, 2460 weight class) and Antero Vuori (ranked 475 p4p, 304 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Irish Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antero Vuori!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.

Decent striking displayed by Power there.
Power throws a right hand that Vuori ducks under and follows up with a left that Vuori also avoids with ease.
Vuori is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Vuori misses with a looping left.
Vuori lands a front kick.
Vuori is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Power with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Vuori to score with a decent uppercut.
Vuori fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Vuori scores with a sloppy right hand. Power should have avoided that one.
Power misses the jab.
Power throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vuori throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Power takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Power lands a nice shot that snaps Vuori's head back.
Power throws a low kick but it's checked well by Vuori.
Power is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Power has been working on his boxing with his coaches at MMA Dojo (Top Gym in Tokyo*) in the buildup to the fight.
Vuori throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Power shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Vuori. Power does a little dance to reset his feet.

Power loads up on a big right hand but Vuori slips the punch.
Vuori has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

and Vuori cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Power takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Vuori catches Power with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Power thows a left - swing and a miss!
Power throws a hook but Vuori avoids it easily.

and Vuori counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Power rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Vuori counters with a stiff right hand.
Power is looking to score with low kicks.
Power throws a chopping leg kick but Vuori manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Vuori throws a sloppy head kick and Power moves out of range easily.
Power swings away with a body shot that misses
and Vuori counters with a nice uppercut.
Power showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vuori.
Power swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Vuori.
A combination from Vuori does no damage.
Power uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vuori.
Power swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Vuori, as that shot connected.
Antero Vuori seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vuori uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Power has time to react.
A slow jab from Power misses its intended target.
Vuori bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Power's head backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antero Vuori dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Power takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Vuori keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Vuori takes a swing at Power's ribcage but misses.
Power jabs at Vuori's body.
Power fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vuori manages to avoid it.
Vuori moves out of range as Power strikes.

Vuori throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Vuori has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A head kick misses from Vuori.
Power goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vuori slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Power throws an overhand right that lands on Vuori's shoulder, as Vuori tries to avoid the shot.
Vuori is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Vuori lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Vuori throws a body shot but no joy.
A little feinted left hand from Power on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Power misses with a lunging right hand
and Vuori counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Power looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Power walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Vuori lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Power looks to throw the jab but Vuori is out of range.
Vuori throws a right hand that Power ducks under and follows up with a left that Power also avoids with ease.

Vuori throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Power stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Power tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vuori was well out of range. Poor timing from Power.

Power takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

OH! Power has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Vuori smells blood and charges in for the finish! Vuori unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Power sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
