Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Schafer!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.

Daniels fails with the takedown
letting Schafer counter with a right hand.

It looks like Anthony Daniels has been cut.
Daniels misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Daniels gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Schafer.
Daniels moves forwards but Schafer connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Horrible takedown attempt by Daniels or perhaps it was just good defense by Schafer, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Daniels. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniels shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schafer as he jumps to the side.

and Schafer counters with a right hand to the body.

Daniels takes the fight into the clinch.
Schafer lands a hook to the side of the head.
Daniels has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Schafer avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Schafer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Anthony Daniels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schafer is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Daniels shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Schafer is trying to defend but Daniels finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Schafer has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Daniels is on him like a limpet, forcing Schafer back against the cage.
Daniels is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Schafer is leaning against Daniels and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Daniels has Schafer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Schafer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A nice left hand lands by Schafer.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Schafer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Schafer pushes Daniels back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Daniels wants a takedown.
Schafer lands a body shot in the clinch.

A right handed body shot lands from Schafer.
Schafer lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Daniels backwards.
Schafer tries to break free but Daniels pushes him back against the cage.
Schafer lands on the inside with an uppercut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Schafer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Schafer throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Schafer lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Schafer lands an uppercut.
Schafer lands with a short shot to the head.
Schafer scores with a shoulder strike.

Schafer breaks from the clinch.
Schafer lands a slapping body shot.
Schafer throws a shot to the body.
Schafer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Schafer getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daniels's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Schafer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Daniels scrambles back to his feet.
Daniels dives in and grabs Schafer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schafer pushes down on Daniels's head and hops out.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Schafer! But no joy.
Schafer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Daniels looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Donk. Schafer catches Daniels right on the button with a cross.
Schafer looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Schafer lands with a right hand.

Daniels is rocked!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Schafer!
Robert Schafer decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
