The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A right-left combo lands from Barnes.
Monty drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Barnes throws a right hand that Monty ducks under and follows up with a left that Monty also avoids with ease.
Monty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Barnes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Monty throws a series of punches but Barnes avoids them all with ease.
Barnes swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A punch combination from Barnes misses.
Monty shoots for a takedown but Barnes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A countering left hand to the body from Barnes misses.
Barnes works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
We've been informed that Barnes has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Barnes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Monty tries to clinch but Barnes moves out of range.
A countering left hand to the body from Barnes misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Monty.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ Monty. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Monty changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barnes tries to avoid it but Monty manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barnes to the ground. Barnes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck for Monty with that takedown attempt.
Barnes misses with a low kick.
Monty shoots for a takedown but Barnes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Barnes throws out a counter right but Monty avoids it with no problem.
Barnes connects with a body shot.
Barnes takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Monty takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Barnes swats away the attempt to clinch by Monty.

Barnes misses the jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Barnes, as that shot connected.
Monty swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Monty lands the left hand.
Barnes scores with a body shot.
Monty is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A bone on bone clash there as Monty blocks the leg kick.
Barnes displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Barnes feints a jab promting Monty to slip. Barnes then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Monty slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Monty is rocked!
Monty looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barnes is fending him off so far but Monty persists. Nope, Barnes circles away and we're back to standing.
Barnes throws out a counter right but Monty avoids it with no problem.
AJ Monty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monty wants to clinch up but Barnes keeps it at a distance.
Barnes tried to score with a low kick but Monty checks it.
Monty misses with a series of wild punches.
Sam Barnes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Monty takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Barnes scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Some wild striking there from Barnes.
Barnes throws a leg kick but Monty moved away.

Barnes lands a nice hook to Monty's body. Monty takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Monty is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barnes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barnes! But no joy.
Barnes slips a jab and a cross from Monty.
Barnes clobbers Monty with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Barnes throws a series of punches but Monty avoids them all with ease.
Monty misses with a few strikes there.
Barnes digs a good hook to Monty's body.
Barnes lands with a nice body punch.
Good standup being displayed there by Barnes as he connects with a hook.
Barnes works the jab nicely.
Oh Monty is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Barnes feints with a jab and clips Monty right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Monty is sent crashing into the canvas and Barnes leaps in for the kill! Monty tries to get to his feet but Barnes is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Monty is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Barnes!
After winning the bout, Sam Barnes thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
